Educator and researcher Professor MM Shahidul Hassan has recently joined the department of electrical and electronic engineering at Eastern University as distinguished professor.
With a career spanning decades, Shahidul Hassan also served as vice-chancellor of East West University for eight years, shaping its academic vision and growth with his leadership quality, said a press release on Wednesday.聽 聽
He also held esteemed positions as a professor at Multimedia University, Malaysia, and as an associate professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.
An alumnus of the department of electrical engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Shahidul Hassan completed his PhD from Clarkson University, NY, United States.
After a distinguished tenure at BUET, he retired in 2016.
Hassan鈥檚 prolific research portfolio includes over 75 publications in international journals and conferences.
He has been honored with the University Grants Commission Awards for Best Paper four times and received the prestigious Gold Medal from the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences in 2007.
He was an associate member of International Center of Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy, founded by Nobel laureate Abdus Salam.
In 2023, the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh awarded him the IEB Gold Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to engineering education.
