At least two people were killed and another was injured during exchange of firing between two groups in the River Meghna in Chandpur allegedly over sand lifting, the police confirmed.
The deceased were identified as Tuhin, 29, resident of village Dashani, and Russel, 30, resident of Bhasanchar, both under Matlab upazila of the district.
Both of them being bullet hit were brought dead on Friday night while another was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment, Muhsinganj General Hospital physician Masudur Rahman told reporters.
Munhsiganj additional superintendent of police (sadar circle) Billal Hossain said that the incident took place in Chandpur.
鈥榃e have, however, come to know about the deaths of the two people in the incident. More details could be given later,鈥� he added.
