Students’ Federation of Bangladesh, student wing of Ganosamhati Andolan, at a rally in Dhaka on Friday demanded the justice for killing in the student-led mass uprising that forced Sheikh Hasina to flee to India, bringing an end to 15-year Awami League fascist regime.

Leaders of the SFB and the party also demanded the interim government to publish a complete list of martyrs and to ensure rehabilitation and proper treatment of the injured people in the uprising.

They held the rally to mark the 40th founding anniversary of the SFB at Shahbagh in Dhaka.

In the chief speakers’ speech, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki said that the interim government’s main work was to establish the dignity of the martyrs and injured people and the second work was to establish justice.

The government, however, did not do those, which were unfortunate and embarrassing, mentioned Zonayed Saki, stressing, ‘The government will fail if it wants to run the country alone without taking support from the political parties.’

He also urged the government to form national political council and student council to work for building a democratic Bangladesh.

Welcoming students’ initiative to form a political party, Saki said that people would not take it positively if the formation would be done while being in government.

Charing the rally, SFB president Mashiur Rahman Khan Richard said that the people would defeat the force that wanted to question the War of Independence with the July uprising in 2024.

‘We must defeat the involved persons in mass killing in the July uprising,’ said Richard, vowing that students along with people would not let the uprising go in vain and continue their fight against the forces who wanted to establish fascism in the country.

Saikat Arif, SFB general secretary, slammed the interim government for failing to arrest the involved persons in killing in the uprising.

He said that more than 615 individuals, including the AL political figures and members of law enforcers, took shelter in cantonments in August but no initiative was taken to arrest them.

Farhana Manik Muna, president of the SFB Narayanganj unit, said that it would be a farce in the new journey of Bangladesh if a complete list of martyrs could not be made and rehabilitation and proper treatment of the injured could not be ensured.

Bangladesh Garment Sramik Samhati president Taslima Akhter, SFB Dhaka metropolitan unit president Al Amin Rahman, SFB Dhaka University unit president Armanul Hoque, SFB Tangail district unit president Fatima Rahman Bithi, among others, spoke at the rally.
