
Full reports of commissions to be released on February 8
The interim government will begin discussions with political parties and other stakeholders in mid-February regarding the implementation of proposals from the reform commissions.
Law adviser Professor Asif Nazrul shared the information during a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Professor Nazrul also said that the full reports from the six reform commissions鈥攐n the constitution, election system, judiciary, public administration, Anti-Corruption Commission, and police鈥攚ill be published on February 8.
The reform commissions will also present their recommendations along with the full reports, he said
Earlier in the day, a meeting was held at the office chaired chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus who is also heading the National Consensus Commission, where the heads of the six reform commissions were present, along with Law adviser Asif Nazrul and industry adviser Adilur Rahman Khan.
Asif Nazrul also said that the full reports and recommendations from the reform commissions will be sent to political parties and forces involved in the July mass uprising on February 8.
He said that the reform commissions heads would review immediate, medium-term and long-term actions along with the future course of action for elections and post-election procedures.
The full reports from the commissions, along with their recommendations, will be sent on February 8 to all political parties and July uprising stakeholders for review.
Later on the National Consensus Commission will hold discussions with the political parties and uprising stakeholders in mid-February on the matter.
The first meeting between the National Consensus Commission and uprising stakeholders and political parties will be chaired by Professor Muhammad Yunus, said the law adviser.
When asked about whether the existing constitution will be abolished or rewritten under the interim government at the Tuesday鈥檚 discussion, Asif Nazrul responded that no discussions were held in this regard.
He also said that the work of the six reform commissions would be completed by February 8, after which the National Consensus Commission would begin its journey.
The six reform commissions would be abolished after February 8 with its six heads becoming members of the National Consensus Commission, the law adviser said.
Regarding the constitution, Asif Nazrul further added that the political parties would hold discussions on reaching consensus on the matter.
