A court in Sirajganj on Tuesday sent former Awami League lawmaker for Sirajganj-3, Md Abdul Aziz, to jail in a case of attempted murder during the July-August mass uprising, a day after he was arrested at the capital鈥檚 Kalabagan area Monday night.
A team of the Rapid Action Battalion arrested him at about 11:00pm on Monday and handed him over to Tarash Police at about 5:00am on Tuesday, the police station鈥檚 sub-inspector Md Alamgir Hossain said.
The former lawmaker is accused in several cases related to the July-August mass uprising and was shown arrested in a case of attempted murder lodged with Tarash police station, RAB-2 assistant superintendent of police Khan Asif Tapu said.
Abdul Aziz was elected lawmaker for Sirajganj-3 constituency in the 11th and 12th parliamentary elections held in 2018 and 2024.
