The Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owner’s Association has called for an indefinite strike in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions from Wednesday morning, protesting against Roads and Highways Department’s recent eviction drive in Naogaon.

A press release, signed by the association’s central committee’s secretary general Mizanur Rahman Ratan and Rajshahi divisional unit general secretary Abdul Jalil, stated that the Roads and Highway Department of Naogaon district conducted a sudden eviction drive without any prior announcement, notice, or official letter, leaving petrol pump owners extremely frustrated and outraged.

‘In response to this unexpected incident, all petrol pump owners of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions have declared an indefinite strike starting from 8:00am on February 5. During this period, fuel extraction, distribution, and transportation will be suspended,’ the press release added.
