The district administration on Sunday handed over the Tongi Ijtema ground to the followers of Saad Kandhalvi for holding the second phase of the Bishwa Ijtema from February 14 to 16.
Following the completion of the first phase of the Ijtema, the ground was handed over to the followers of Saad Kandhalvi for the second phase, Gazipur additional deputy commissioner Md Wahid Hossain told reporters after handing over the ground at noon.
He said that the second phase of the Ijtema would begin on February 14 while it would end on February 16 following the Akheri Munajat, final prayer.
After completion of the second phase, the ground will be handed over to the district administrator again on February 18.
Additional deputy commissioner of Gazipur metropolitan police Hafizul Islam and regional executive officer of Gazipur City Corporation Firoz Al Mamun were present during the handover.
Among the followers of Saad Kandhalvi, Shah Md Muhibbullah, Rezaul Karim, Abdus Salam, media coordinator Mohammad Sayem, Manir Hossain, Abdul Hannan, Bashir Ahmed Sikder, Harun Or Rashid, Siraj Shikder, Asadullah, Md Millat Hossain, Md Aslam and Mohammad Hossain were present.
