The BAUET Cup Basketball and Cricket Tournament 2025 has been officially inaugurated at the Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology campus in Qadirabad Cantonment, Natore, said a press release.
The event has been organised by the Games, Sports, and Gymnasium Club of BAUET.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday at the university sports ground, with the honorable vice-chancellor of BAUET, Brigadier General Md Mizanuzzaman, gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
In his speech, the chief guest emphasised, 鈥楽tudents鈥� primary responsibility is to study, but they must also engage in regular sports activities to maintain good health.鈥�
Before the match began, he met with the players of both teams. The opening match was played between the EEE Department and the English Department.
The event was attended by Colonel Md. Shawkat Hossain, psc (Retd), Treasurer of BAUET; Lt Colonel KFA Sohel (Retd), Registrar; Professor Md Sazzad Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science & Humanities and adviser of the games, Sports & Gymnasium Club; Professor Md Shahidul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Law; Professor Mohammad Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Dean, Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering; Md Mahmudur Rahman, Associate Professor of the CE Department and Proctor; Md Masudar Rahman, assistant professor, Mathematics Department and Student Welfare Adviser; along with department heads, deputy registrars, faculty members, officials, and students.
In the opening match, the EEE Department secured victory over the English Department with a 4-0 scoreline. Md. Zahid Hossain, a student from the 18th batch of the EEE Department, was awarded the 鈥楶layer of the Match鈥� title for his outstanding performance.
