Mohammad Azaz, the chairman of River and Delta Research Centre, was appointed as the administrator to Dhaka North City Corporation on Wednesday, with immediate effect.
The announcement was made in a notification issued on Wednesday, signed by Local Government Division deputy secretary Mahbuba Ireen. According to the notification, Azaz鈥檚 appointment is for one year, starting from the date the notification was issued.
The appointment was made under section 25(ka), sub-section 1 of the Local Government City Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance 2024.
Earlier, the interim government removed mayors of all city corporations and municipalities on August 19, 2024.
Md Mahmudul Hasan, additional secretary of the LGRD ministry, was appointed as the administrator of DNCC as an additional duty.
