Two youths were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj on Wednesday night, said police on Thursday morning.
One of the victims died just two days before his wedding,
The deceased Shah Alam, 26, son of Sabed Ali was returning home from Habiganj town by a motorcycle after shopping for the wedding scheduled on Friday, police and family said.
The would-be groom鈥檚 companion Suyem Mia, 25, also died in the accident involving their bike and a speeding truck.
The youths hailed from village Brahmandura of the upazila.
The speeding truck rammed into their bike from behind when they fell on the highway after the bike lost control in Nurpur area of the upazila on Wednesday evening, witnesses said.
The accident left Suyem dead on the spot and Shah Alam critically injured, said Shayestaganj police station鈥檚 officer-in-charge Taimur Islam.
Alam was also declared dead when he was taken to a nearby private hospital, he added.
