A group of families of victims of enforced disappearance on Monday demanded government jobs for one member of each family and monthly allowances for the families.

They made the demands at a press conference organised by Bangladesh Enforced Disappearance Family, a platform of the families of the enforced disappearance victims, at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital.

Md Bellal Hossain, chief coordinator of the platform, said that the victim families had been struggling for a long time for the return of their loved ones.

‘No one was found in the secret detention cells that were recently visited by the chief adviser Muhammad Yunus. I believe no one is left alive,’ he said.

He demanded a list of total detention cells across the country and increasing the manpower of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearance, as well as forming a monitoring cell to see if the investigation was being carried out properly.

The victim families also demanded abolishing the Rapid Action Battalion for their alleged involvement in enforced disappearances, and free education for the children of the victim families.
