The hanging body of a police constable was recovered from his residence in Katlamari area of Mirpur in Kushtia on Wednesday.
The deceased, Rakibul Islam, a resident of Katlamari village, was serving at Jhenaidah police lines.
Family members said that Rakibul locked his bedroom door and hanged himself with a scarf on Wednesday morning.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.
Mominul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mirpur police station, said that it was suspected that financial hardship led to his mental distress, resulting in suicide.
