Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi organised a protest rally demanding reinvestigation of the murder case of free-thinking blogger and writer Avijit Roy on his 10th death anniversary at TSC of Dhaka University on Wednesday.  

They also placed flowers and lighted candles at the spot where he was hacked to death on February 26, 2015.


Chaired by Udichi vice-president Habibul Alam, the rally comprised a discussion where its general Secretary Jamshed Anwar Tapan, writer-activist Baki Billah, poet Saikat Amin, Bangladesh Students’ Union leader Meghmallar Bosu, Battery-run Rickshaw-Van Sramik Union organising secretary Liton Nandy, among others, spoke at the event.

On February 26, 2015, Avijit Roy was hacked to death on a footpath near TSC of DU when he was leaving the Bangla Academy premises during Ekushey Book Fair. His wife Rafida Afrin Banya was also injured in the attack.Both Avijit and Rafida are citizens of the United States and came to Bangladesh on the occasion of Ekushey Book Fair.
