A case was filed on Sunday for attempting to rape a seven-year-old girl while she was on her way to madrassah at Companiganj in Noakhali.
Companiganj police station officer-in-charge, Gazi Muhammad Foyzul Azim, said that the victim鈥檚 mother filed the case against the accused Md Sharup, 18.
鈥楾he victim has been sent to a hospital for a health check-up,鈥� the OC said, adding that the police were working to arrest the accused.
On Saturday morning, Md Sharup, a resident of Ward 6 under Muchapur union in the upazila, attempted to rape the victim by forcefully taking her to a deserted area, said the people of the area.
He, however, fled the scene after a local person saw him.
Later, Sharup鈥檚 mother tried to negotiate the issue by offering Tk 20,000 to the victim鈥檚 mother, mentioned the people of the area.
