
Chief of army staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Monday left Dhaka for the Central African Republic on a three-day official visit.
During the visit, he will inspect the activities of Bangladeshi contingents stationed in the Central African Republic and also different programmes of Bangladeshi peacekeepers present there, said a press release of Inter-Services Public Relation.
Apart from this, the army chief is scheduled to inaugurate a community clinic constructed by the Bangladesh army peacekeepers for providing medical services to the people of that country.
Currently, five contingents of the Bangladesh army are being engaged in peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic.
Moreover, 9,961 army personnel have served as peacekeepers and 11 have sacrificed their lives while engaged in peacekeeping operations in this conflict-ridden African country since 2014.
