Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been admitted to United Hospital in the capital鈥檚 Gulshan area.
The party鈥檚 press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan on Monday said that the party secretary general was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning as per doctors鈥� advice.
Fakhrul鈥檚 condition is now stable and the hospital鈥檚 chief consultant of cardiology, Professor NAM Momenuzzaman, is overseeing Fakhrul鈥檚 treatment, Shairul said.
Doctors at the hospital reported that Fakhrul鈥檚 sodium levels had dropped, and he was also experiencing breathing problems due to a buildup of mucus in his chest.
The ailing leader鈥檚 family has requested the party leaders, activists, and supporters to refrain from crowding the hospital.
