
Shoriful Islam grabbed four wickets while Tanzid Hasan hit a brisk 65 as Legends of Rupganj claimed a crushing 10-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the BKSP-3 on Tuesday.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful struck early, taking four wickets in his first two overs, while Gazi Group鈥攚ho were asked to bat first鈥攍ost another wicket via run out, leaving them at 4-5 by the third over. Soon they become 4-6.
DPL鈥簊 lowest score of 35 runs was at risk, but Gazi Group鈥簊 lower order showed some resilience, finishing with a total of 91 runs in 38.5 overs before Tanvir Islam claimed three wickets.
Saif Hassan (27*) and Tanzid then chased the target down in just 13.5 overs. Tanzid hit 10 fours and two sixes in his innings of 141.30 strike rate.
At Ground-3 in the BKSP, Rayan Rafsan Rahman and Anik Sarker shone with the bat, and then Al Fahad and Rafiuzzaman Rafi鈥檚 performance with the ball helped Shinepukur Cricket Club beat Partex Sporting Club by 77 runs.
After losing two openers before 50 runs on the board (one of them was retired hurt), Shinepukur found its way through three fifty-run partnerships.
Anik added 68 (101) and 68 (62) with Rahim Ahmed and Rayan, respectively, while Rayan added 75 (70) more with Minhajul Abedin.
Anik scored 77 off 78, while Rayan made 87 off 81. Minhajul (35) and Zubaer Hossain (39* off 14) also made valuable contributions as Shinepukur reached 298-5 in 50 overs.
Chasing a big score, Partex lost both openers within the third over, and the middle order took a while to rebuild as they failed to form substantial partnerships with none of those reached even the fifty mark.
Fahad took 3-50 while Rafi grabbed 3-14 for Shinepukur as Partex stumbled to 221 in 49.5 overs.
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Fazle Mahmud and captain Nurul Hasan guided Dhanmondi Sports Club to a four-wicket victory over Brothers Union after the bowlers restricted the latter to 262-5 in 50 overs.
After being asked to bat first, Brothers got a solid foundation as the opening partnership between Mahfijul Islam (84) and Imtiaz Hossain (50) yielded 99 runs.
Then Mizanur Rahman added another 73 runs with Mahfijul. Mizanur, though, had to retire hurt after making 73 off 76. That spoilt the proceedings for Brothers in the middle overs, and they managed a moderate score.
A 56-run opening partnership started things well for Dhanmondi before Fazle (55) held things together in the middle. Nurul then got them home with eight balls to spare and remained unbeaten on 58 off 53.
