The metropolitan special judge court on Tuesday ordered to freeze 14 bank accounts of Suchana Foundation of Saima Wajed Putul, South East Asian regional director of the World Health Organization and daughter of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.聽
Md Zakir Hossain Galib, judge of the court, passed the order following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The balance of these accounts is Tk 48 crore and 35 lakh.
The commission, in its application, told the court that Putul was appointed as the regional director of the WHO in connivance with her mother Sheikh Hasina defying the rules, principals and ethics of the deed of the organisation.
鈥楽he has already transferred Tk hundred of crores abroad through laundering after misappropriating the money from different government projects, utilising the illegal power of her mother,鈥� it added.
The ACC investigator during its primary inquiry came to know that Putul and other personalities related to Suchana Foundation were trying to handover and transfer the moveable properties of the foundation.
鈥業t will be very difficult for the investigators to recover the properties if they can transfer or handover it,鈥� the ACC official said, adding, 鈥楾hat is why those bank accounts should be frozen.鈥�
