The former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, is currently on life support at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka.
Professor Arefin Siddique, 72, sustained a head injury after falling at Dhaka Club around 2:40pm on Thursday. He was rushed to the ICU of the Neuro Science Unit at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital around 3:00pm.
鈥楬is condition is critical,鈥� said his younger brother, Shakrin Siddique. 鈥楬e fell at Dhaka Club while buying bakery items and was immediately taken to the hospital,鈥� he added, urging everyone to pray for his recovery.
Professor Arefin Siddique, a former faculty member of mass communication and journalism department at Dhaka University, was appointed as the university鈥檚 27th vice-chancellor in 2009.
He also served as president and general secretary of Dhaka University Teachers鈥� Association and as chairman of Board of Directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
