
The Sonargaon History, Heritage and Antiquities Preservation Committee formed a human chain, demanding the restoration and preservation of the Goaldi Mosque, in front of the mosque at Sonargaon in Narayanganj on Friday.
The human chain, chaired by convener of the committee, poet Shahed Kayes, was moderated by joint convener of the committee, Mizanur Rahman, said a press release.
The Goaldi Mosque was built during the rule of the sultans in Sonargaon.聽 Although the mosque is under the responsibility of the department of archaeology, various parts of the mosque are currently under risk, the speakers said.
Mentioning that the round domes on the top of the four pillars in the four corners have already collapsed, they said that the pillar in the southwest corner of the mosque was leaning, which could collapse at any time.

Narayanganj deputy commissioner, Sonargaon upazila nirbahi officer and the custodian in charge of preserving the archaeological monuments of聽Sonargaon.
