Bangladesh Road Transport Authority on Monday temporarily adjourned the registration of the pickup van which hit two readymade garment workers, leaving one dead and one injured in Dhaka city on the same day.

Following the accident, several hundred readymade garment workers blocked road in Chairmanbari area for around seven hours demanding justice.


In this circumstance, the BRTA鈥檚 Dhaka Metro -2 Circle in Ekuria area issued a letter to the pickup van鈥檚 owner Md Titon Islam from Lakshmidhordiya, Dhopail, Mirpur in Kushtia district.

The letter is signed by the BRTA deputy director (engineering) Md Sanaul Haque.

The letter reads that the Dhaka Metro 鈥� Na -14-0762 鈥� vehicle fell in an accident on Monday morning at about 6:00am in Chairmanbari area in Banani following which one female RMG worker was killed and another was injured.

Against this circumstance, following the Road Transport Rules, 2022鈥檚 section 46 the registration of the Dhaka Metro 鈥� Na -14-0762 鈥� vehicle had been temporarily adjourned, the letter continued.

In the letter, the owner was asked to go to the office of Md Sanaul Haque within three working days with the vehicle鈥檚 registration certificate, tax token, fitness certificate, route permit and the pickup van鈥檚 driver鈥檚 driving license.

Otherwise, the vehicle鈥檚 registration would be permanently cancelled and legal action would be taken against the vehicle owner, the letter ended.
