Opener Murshida Khatun has been axed from the Bangladesh squad for the forthcoming ICC Women鈥檚 ODI World Cup Qualifier, which was announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday.
The Qualifier will be held in Lahore, Pakistan, from April 5 to 19.
Uncapped batter Ishma Tanjim was called up while off-spinner Jannatul Sumona and all-rounder Ritu Moni returned to the side.
Murshida has been struggling with the bat in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Women鈥檚 Cricket League for Mohammedan Sporting Club, where she has scored 110 runs in eight innings.
Sultana Khatun and Taj Nehar鈥攚ho were also in the squad for the last Caribbean tour鈥攄idn鈥檛 make the cut.
Ishma, meanwhile, made 336 at an average of 48 in the WDPL. The returnee Sumona has been the highest wicket-taker in the league with 21 at 14.33 so far. Ritu has taken 18 and has been the joint second highest wicket-taker.
Bangladesh missed the opportunity of a direct qualification in the World Cup when they lost the ODI series 2-1 against the West Indies in January.
Now they will have to compete in the qualifying tournament for the two available spots in the eight-team World Cup to be held in India with the West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand, along with hosts Pakistan.
Bangladesh will face Thailand on April 10, followed by their encounter against Ireland, Scotland, the West Indies, and Pakistan.
Bangladesh will leave for Lahore on April 3 and take part in two warm-up matches before the main tournament begins.
