Nurul Hasan smashed his career-best innings to put Dhanmondi Sports Club back on winning track as they beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 97 runs in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the BKSP-3 Ground on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, Dhanmondi, who lost their previous two matches, became 76-4 in the 18th over despite opener Habibur Rahman hitting 45 off 42 balls.
Nurul, who came in at number five, then added 113 off 120 with Sunzamul Islam for the fifth wicket. The Dhanmondi captain reached his first hundred of the season in 114 balls.
He hit 13 fours and four sixes to remain unbeaten on 132 off 131 and helped Dhanmondi to put on a competitive total of 277-9 in 50 overs.
Shinepukur captain Rayan Rafsan Rahman took 3-45, while Rafiuzzaman and Ali Mohammad took two wickets each.
In reply, Shinepukur recovered well from 43-3 to 112-3 thanks to a 69-run partnership between Rahim Ahmed (42) and Minhajul Abedin (35).
But Sunzamul dismissed both of them in consecutive overs to trigger a collapse as Shinepukur lost five wickets for just 26 runs before they were all out for 180 in 45.3 overs.
Sunzamul grabbed 4-49, while Kamrul Islam took 3-23.
At the BKSP-4 Ground, Shadman Islam also hit an unbeaten 115 off 108 balls for Agrani Bank Cricket Club to ease past Rupganj Tigers’ 260 with seven wickets remaining.
Tigers, after being asked to bat first, put on 260 in 50 overs thanks to contributions from Amit Majumder (81), Asadulla Al Galib (57), and Ariful Haque (40).
Taibur Rahman and Ruyel Miah each took three wickets.
Shadman and Imranuzzaman (28 off 20) started the run chase on a high tempo in their 52-run opening partnership off just 34 balls.
Shadman maintained that tempo with the help of Imrul Kayes (62 off 58) and others. The left-hander reached his hundred in 95 balls and hit 11 fours and two sixes as Agrani Bank sealed the deal in the 45th over.
This was Agrani Bank’s third consecutive win and fourth overall from five matches.
In the other match of the day, Gulshan Cricket Club won by 57 runs against Partex Cricket Club despite having 221 to defend at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Five of the first six batters of Gulshan, including Liton Das, who were asked to bat first, crossed the 20-mark, but only opener and captain Azizul Hakim reached fifty (62).
Number 10, Mohammad Elias, helped them to cross 200.
Partex kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually lost their way in the run chase before they eventually were all out for 164 runs in 43.2 overs.
Gulshan now won back-to-back after losing two, while Partex suffered a third defeat on the bounce.
