All coaching centres across Bangladesh will remain closed during the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations to check the question leak, said officials of the education ministry on Sunday.

The theoretical part of the examinations will begin on April 10 and conclude on May 11 while the practical part of the examinations will be held between May 15 and May 22.


The number of examinees for the SSC and the equivalent examinations has decreased to 19,28,181 this year from 20,24,192 in 2024 for the second consecutive year.

In 2023, the number of SSC examinees was 20,72,163.

This year the examinations will be held on full syllabuses, on all subjects, full number and three-hour time.

These announcement were given at a meeting of the national monitoring and law enforcement committee held in the education ministry conference room, said a press release issued by the ministry.聽

Professor Chowdhury R Abrar, the adviser to the education ministry, said that steps would be taken to hold the SSC and its equivalent exams in a proper, peaceful and disciplined environment.

He mentioned that ahead of the exams there were some challenges including possible natural calamities and current circumstantial instability.

For preventing these, he requested assistance from the law enforcers.

The education ministry senior secretary, Siddique Zobair, said that action would be taken against rumour of question leak while action would also be taken to keep close watch on the photocopier shops surrounding the exam centres.

As per the press release, this year under the nine general boards the number of candidates is 14,90,142 including 7,88,604 girls and 7,01,538 boys.

Under these nine boards the number of exam centres is 2,291 and the number of the institutions is 18,084.

The number of candidates, under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, is 2,94,726 including 1,50,893 boys and 1,43,833 girls.

Under this board, the number of exam centres is 725 and the number of institutions is 9,063.

The number of candidates, under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, is 1,43,313 including 1,08,385 boys and 34,928 girls.
