
Mustakim Hawlader, a class-nine student of Cambridge School and College, slammed 404 runs off 170 balls in a 50-over game against St Gregory School and College at the Dhaka University Central Field in the ongoing Prime Bank National School Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.
Cambridge posted a mammoth 770-2 in 50 overs, with captain Soad Parves also hitting 256 off 124 balls.
Mustakim, who likes to watch the power hitting of the Caribbean batters and follows Shakib Al Hasan, hit 50 fours and 22 sixes in his innings.
Soad hit 32 fours and 13 sixes. He and Mustakim added 699 runs in an unbroken partnership for the third wicket.
St Gregory proved to be a complete mismatch while chasing, as they were all out for just 32 runs in 11.4 overs to hand Cambridge a victory of 738 runs.
Hasan Hridoy took 6-11, while Soad himself took 4-16.
鈥業 and he [Soad] have been playing together since childhood,鈥 said Mustakim at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, where they came for a media interaction along with their coach, Mohammad Shrabon.
鈥楬e helped me a lot; at the end, he helped me to get a big score by rotating strike to me. Thanks to him,鈥 said Mustakim of his captain Soad.
On his batting style, Mustakim said that he always loves to play with an aggressive approach.
鈥楳y coach says, 鈥淲henever you hit, you hit with power. Don鈥檛 play slow cricket.鈥 As cricket has changed, I鈥檓 trying to cope,鈥 said Mustakim.听
