Mohammad Rakib鈥檚 career-best innings steered Partex Sporting Club back to winning terms as they beat Agrani Bank Cricket Club by one wicket in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing 219 runs, Partex were going smooth and were comfortable at 202-5, but when they lost their sixth batter, Jawad Royen (18) in the 46th over, the game took a dramatic turn.

Partex quickly lost three more wickets in a span of three overs and became 209-9 as they needed 10 runs in the last over.

Rakib held his nerve and struck two boundaries to release the pressure, and then Tofael Ahmed took a single in the final delivery to take Partex home, securing their first win after four consecutive defeats.

Rakib played an unbeaten 80 off 103 balls, including five fours and an equal number of sixes. Adil and Tanvir Hossain contributed 32 and 25 runs, respectively.

Nayeem Hasan and Arif Ahmed took two wickets each for Agrani Bank.

Despite a middle-order collapse, Agrani Bank managed to make 218 all out after being put into bat first.

Marshal Ayub played a gritty 64 off 87 balls, aided by five boundaries, while others had a short stay at the crease.

Marshal, who came to bat when his side was struggling at 68-4, added 52 runs with Taibur Rahman (19) for the fifth wicket and another 43 runs with Shuvagata Hom (27) to propel Agrani Bank to reach the 200-mark.

Five of the seven bowlers used by Partex were among the wickets, with Naeem Islam Jnr claiming 3-41 while Alauddin Babu, Mohor Sheikh and Jawad each picked up two wickets.

The other two matches between Gulshan Cricket Club and Legends of Rupganj, as well as Rupganj Tigers and Brothers Union, were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain at the BKSP-3 and BKSP-4 grounds, respectively.
