Tamim Iqbal has been admitted to a hospital in Savar after feeling chest pain during Mohammedan Sporting Club’s match against the Shinepukur Cricket Club in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket Club on Monday.Ìý

The former Bangladesh captain is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a ‘massive heart attack’ was suspected, according to Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician of the BCB.

Tamim, who is captaining Mohammedan this season, was present at the toss but couldn’t take the field as he soon started to feel pain in his chest.Ìý

The 36-year-old was then rushed to a nearby hospital.Ìý

‘Some tests were conducted at that hospital, including an ECG of his heart,’ said Debashish. ‘At that time, a slight issue was detected. Often such problems are not immediately noticeable in the initial stages. Usually, blood tests after an hour provide more clarity. However, his first blood test already indicated some concerns,’ he added.Ìý

It was learnt that Tamim himself at that point suggested to travel to Dhaka via an air ambulance, and that was also arranged to fly from the BKSP ground. However, while he was on his way back to BKSP, he felt unwell again.Ìý

He had to be taken to the hospital for the second time when he was suspected of having a ‘massive heart attack’.Ìý

The match between Mohammedan and Shinepukur is going on. However, a scheduled BCB meeting has been cancelled amidst the news of Tamim being unwell. Ìý
