
A Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal leader was hacked to death at Sitakunda in Chattogram on Wednesday.
The deceased, Md Nasir Uddin, 43, was organising secretary of Sitakunda unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Krishak Dal.
He was killed near his home in Hatilota area of Barbakunda union in the upazila.Â
Sitakunda model police station officer-in-charge Mojibur Rahman said that unidentified assailants armed with sharp weapons attacked him.
Nasir’s younger brother, Azad Hossain, said that his brother always had iftar at home. ‘On Wednesday, he was heading to his dairy farm after iftar. The assailants struck him with sharp weapons, nearly severing his head from his body.’
Badiul Alam Badrul, convener of Chattogram North District Krishak Dal, condemned the killing, saying, ‘Criminals have brutally murdered a dedicated politician. We demand a thorough investigation and justice of the murder.’
‘A police team is working to determine the motive and identify those involved in the murder,’ OC Mojibur Rahman said, adding that the police had handed over the body to the family after an autopsy.
The OC also mentioned that as of now, no case had been filed regarding the incident.
