
Two teenage visitors died in tourist spots, Sada Pathar and Jaflong in Sylhet during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
The deceased are identified as Tachhil Pal, 14, daughter of Pralay Pal of Jallarpar area in Sylhet city, and Nayan Miah, 13, of Derai upazila in Sunamganj, police said.
Companiganj police station officer-in-charge Uzayer Al Mahmud Adnan told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Tachhil came with her family members to visit the Sada Pathar area at Companiganj upazila at about Wednesday noon.
At one point, she went down into knee-deep water with the other family members, but she suddenly got fainted, he said.
‘Her family members took her to the local upazila health complex, but the attending doctor declared her dead,’ the police officer said.
Companiganj Upazila Health Complex medical officer Prabhakar Roy told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the girl was brought dead.
‘The deceased’s family members said that she had a heart problem,’ Prabhakar said.
Earlier, on Monday, Nayan along with his friends came to visit Jaflong, a well-known tourist spot at Goainghat upazila in Sylhet.
Locals said that Nayan along with his friends went down into the River Piyain at Zero Point of the Jaflong area at about 4:00pm on Monday to take a bath.
But, he drowned in the river while he was swimming with his friends and went missing.
Goainghat police station officer-in-charge Sarker Tofayel Ahmed told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the locals recovered Nayan from the riverbed about half an hour after the incident and took him to the Goainghat Upazila Health Complex from where he was shifted to the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
‘But, the on-duty doctors of the hospital declared him dead immediately after taking him there,’ he said.
