
Joint forces have arrested 341 people, including listed criminals, extortionists, fugitive accused of different cases, robbers, juvenile gang members and drug peddlers in different joint operations between March 27 and April 2.
Several joint operations were conducted in different areas of the country, including the capital, by units under various infantry divisions and independent brigades of Bangladesh Army in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, said an ISPR press release here today.
It said that Bangladesh Army kept working with professionalism across the country to maintain law and order in the current situation across the country.
During the drives, 15 illegal firearms, 53 different types of ammunition, narcotics, various types of indigenous weapons used in terrorist activities, stolen mobile phones, SIM cards, fake notes and cash were recovered from the arrested people.
The arrested have been handed over to the police stations of the concerned areas for necessary interrogation and legal proceedings.
Besides, the Bangladesh Army has ensured patrolling at public transport terminals and stations, awareness miking, prevention of black marketing and fair distribution of tickets to ensure a smooth and comfortable Eid journey on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, said the release.
The army patrol teams have worked round the clock to provide alternative routes, parking arrangements, traffic control and prevent road blocks on the highway, which has made the journey of people heading home for Eid easy and safe, the release said.
To prevent possible unrest in the industrial area, the army has ensured the payment of salaries and bonuses through exchanges and negotiations with the owners and workers, as a result of which the workers’ Eid celebration has been peaceful and joyful.
The army continued such operations to maintain the overall law and order situation in the country, said the release.
The commoners are requested to provide information about any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp, it said.
