
A Bangladeshi fisherman lost his right leg in a mine explosion in the River Naf at Totardia border along Myanmar in Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday afternoon.
Md Feroz, 30, a resident of Teknaf upazila lost his leg in a mine explosion while catching fish at the river, said BGB 2 battalion commanding officer in Teknaf Lieutenant Colonel Md Ashikur Rahman.
‘The fisherman lost his leg in the mine explosion while he crossed into Myanmar,’ he said, mentioning that the jurisdiction of the incident fall under the newly established BGB 64 Battalion.
He said that the incident took place at about 1:00pm on Sunday.
According to Rohingya people living in the camps sheltered in Bangladesh, a clash broke out between members of the Arakan Army and Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army at Mongadu township in the Rakhine state in Myanmar.
Members of the Arakan Army and ARSA installed landmines after the clash.
