The Fire Service and Civil Defence Department celebrated the 44th founding anniversary on Wednesday.
FSCD director general Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal inaugurated the event by cutting a cake at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Training Complex in Mirpur, Dhaka, said a press release.
Directors of the department, officers and employees of various ranks were present.
To mark the anniversary, special prayer ceremony was organised at all fire stations, including all mosques of the fire service after zuhr prayers. At the same time, a reception was held at all divisional offices, district offices and fire stations at noon.
On April 9, 1981, the fire service and civil defence directorate was established by merging fire service directorate, civil defence directorate, and road and highway rescue unit.
