
Protests against Israel鈥檚 military offensive in Gaza continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday in Dhaka and other parts of the country, demanding an immediate end to the bombardment and mass killings in the besieged enclave.
Demonstrators鈥攊ncluding teachers, political leaders, student groups, and civil society organisations鈥攕taged rallies, brought out processions, and formed human chains, condemning the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
On April 7, tens of thousands of students, professionals, and ordinary citizens across Bangladesh observed a global strike in solidarity with the people of Gaza. Most educational institutions remained closed that day.
抖阴精品 correspondent at Dhaka University reported that a group of teachers from DU and other universities staged a protest at Bottola in front of the arts faculty, calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza and Rafah and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The student platform Agrashon Birodhi Andolon submitted a memorandum to the ministry of home affairs, urging the government to speak out against the ongoing atrocities in Palestine.
Political parties also voiced their concerns. The Bhashani Onusari Parishad held a rally in front of the National Press Club, where convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu urged the international community to unite against the attacks on unarmed civilians in Palestine.
Islamic Front Bangladesh鈥檚 Dhaka city unit formed a human chain at the same location, with secretary general Joynul Abedin Zubair calling on the global Muslim community to stand united against the aggression.
In a press statement, Workers Party of Bangladesh acting president Mahmudul Hasan Manik and acting general secretary Nur Ahmed Bakul demanded the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Islami Andolan Bangladesh also issued a statement condemning the attacks.
抖阴精品 correspondent in Barishal reported that the Left Democratic Alliance organised a protest march and rally in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall, demanding an immediate end to the war.
A group of students also marched from the Central Shaheed Minar to Ashwini Kumar Hall, calling for a boycott of Israeli products.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party announced a countrywide demonstration for Thursday to protest the Israeli offensive and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The road safety advocacy group Nirapad Sarak Chai is also set to hold a protest rally in front of the National Press Club Thursday morning.
