The Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team will tour Nepal for their first-ever Test series, beginning on April 20 in Kathmandu, as part of their preparation for the second Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, which will be hosted by India in June.

Bangladesh will depart on April 19 before taking on the hosts in the first encounter on April 20. The remaining matches of the series will be played on April 21, 22, 24, and 25.

‘Nepalese are very excited about this series because, like Bangladesh, it will also be the first-ever Test series for the Nepal women’s team,’ Bangladesh kabaddi Federation general secretary SM Nawaz Shohag told the media on Thursday.

Bangladesh began their training under two coaches – Shahnaz Parveen Maleka and Arduzzaman Munshi – at the Riya Gope Women’s Sports Complex in Dhanmondi.

They started the training camp soon after their bronze-medal-winning campaign in the seven-nation Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Tehran, Iran, in early March.

‘I believe our girls will gain experience through the series before the World Cup. After the series, we’ll try to send the team for a month or 15 days, and we have planned to arrange a few warm-up matches against the state team in India,’ said Shohag.

Recently, the national men’s kabaddi team also played their first-ever five-match Test series against Nepal in February and won the series 4-1.
