Dengue claimed two more lives and sent 22 people to hospitals across Bangladesh in 24 hours till Saturday morning, raising this year鈥檚 death toll to 16 and the total number of cases to 2,074, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The latest fatalities were reported from Barishal Division, outside the city corporation areas.


Of the 22 new cases, ten were reported from outside city corporation areas in Barishal Division, three from Dhaka North City Corporation, three from Dhaka South City Corporation, four from outside city corporation areas in Dhaka Division, and two from outside city corporation areas in Chattogram Division.

Currently, 102 dengue patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals across the country.

Last year, the country experienced a severe dengue outbreak that resulted in 575 deaths and 101,214 reported cases. A total of 100,040 patients recovered during that period.
