
The students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College in the capital locked in a clash allegedly over an incident of damaging a student identity card on Tuesday morning.
The two groups blamed each other for initiating the clash that continued for about one and a half hours since 11:00am.
New Market police officer-in-charge Md Mohsin said that the students chased each other till about 12:30pm with no casualties, however.
‘We have brought the situation under control persuading both the groups to relent. We came to know about the clash that broke out after Dhaka College students allegedly damaged the ID card of a student of the other college,’ the OC added.
Dhaka College student Habizar Rahman of social science department said that one of their fellows was beaten by Dhaka City College students, which led the higher secondary students of Dhaka College to clash with the City College students.
In recent times, the students of the two colleges clashed several times, mostly over trifling issues, since the ouster of the Sheikh Hasina regime on August 5, 2024, leaving several dozens injured.
