
Bangla New Year 1432 was celebrated at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University on Monday with colourful arrangements.
Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Md Abdul Latif inaugurated Pahela Baishakh programme by releasing balloons and pigeons in front of the faculty of agriculture building on the campus, said a press release.
Also present at the time were treasurer Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar, proctor Professor Md Arfan Ali, director of the student counselling and guidance department Professor Moha Ashabul Haque, leaders of various student organisations, other teachers, officers, employees and students.
After holding a rally, a discussion session was organised, where VC, treasurer, proctor, director of planning, development and works of SAU Professor Md Sarwar Hossain and dean of the faculty of agribusiness management Professor Md Zakir Hossain spoke.
Later, a cultural event held where students performed dance, songs, poetry recitations, and dramas. Also, a ‘Baishakhi Fair’ was organized with stalls from 20 socio-cultural organisations of students.
