
The Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti’s student wing Parbatya Chattogram Pahari Chhatra Parishad alleged that students of five Chittagong University students were abducted by the United People’s Democratic Front from Khagrachhari area on Wednesday morning.
The students were kidnapped at gunpoint from Giriphul area around 6:30am when they were travelling on a three-wheeler to Khagrachhari Sadar from Kukichhara area said a PCP press release.
The abducted CU 2023-24 academic year students are faculty of fine arts students Aldrin Tripura and Maitrimoy Chakma, dramatics department student Dibbi Chakma, international relations department student Rishan Chakma, also a PCP member of CU unit and Zoology department student Longi Mro, the release said.
The PCP condemned and expressed concern over the incident and demanded unconditional release of the abducted students.
Denying the allegations, UPDF spokesperson Ongyo Marma said that the allegations came at a time when they were urging all to strengthen brotherhood during Boisabi festival celebration.
'The allegations were a conspiracy against UPDF to suppress or nothing else,’ he said.
Khagrachhari district superintendent of police Md Arefin Jewel said that they also received the allegation of abducting five CU students.
‘We along with the members of the Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh are working to rescue five abducted students,' he said.
