Three people, including a police member, were detained with 7, 500 pieces of contraband Yaba tablet at Ramu in Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Tuesday night.
The detained are Zahidul Islam, 33, a wireless operator at Ramu police station, his cohorts Avijit Chowdhury, 35, resident of Patiya, and Pushan Chowdhury, 37, of Raozan in
Chattogram.
Sirajul Mostafa, assistant director of the Department of Narcotics Control in Cox鈥檚 Bazar, said that they conducted a drive in a house rented by the accused police at Mondalpara in Ramu on Tuesday night after being tipped-off that Zahidul and others had been running drug peddling for a long time.
During the drive, a total of 7,500 pieces of Yaba tablets were seized from a private car parked in front of the house, he said.
Means of taking Yaba pills and empty bottles of alcohol were found inside the house, Sirajul said.
A process was underway to file a case accusing them, the DNC official said.
People of the area said that outsiders regularly visited the house and consumed drugs, but no one dared to raise voice fearing of聽 Zahidul.
