
Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, Saida Shinichi, visited the Hakimpara Primary Healthcare Centre on Thursday to observe services, supported by medical equipment provided through the Japanese embassy under the grant assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects.
The comprehensive primary healthcare centre, located at camp no-14 of Hakimpara in Cox鈥檚 Bazar鈥檚 Ukhia, is operated by Dhaka Community Hospital Trust and Community Initiative Society in collaboration with the embassy of Japan and Japan Platform.
The initiative aims to strengthen the healthcare system for both the Rohingya and host communities, according to a CIS press release.
Since September 12, 2017, with approval from the local authorities, Community Initiative Society and Dhaka Community Hospital Trust have been delivering emergency health services, maternal and childcare, nutritional food distribution, and organising public health campaigns for Rohingya refugees. So far, over 600,000 people have received services.
During his visit, ambassador Shinichi spoke with members of the Rohingya and host communities to gauge their satisfaction with the services being provided.
He was accompanied by Karasawa Shinju, first secretary and head of the economic cooperation section, and Makiguchi Yasuyuki, second secretary of the Japanese embassy in Dhaka. Also present were Md Golam Mostofa, executive director of CIS, and Omar Sharif Ibne Hasan, executive member of CIS.
