Bangladesh Medical University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam at a workshop in Dhaka has said that the BMU should be promoted to a university of public aspiration.

‘Medical audit has a great role in improving the quality of medical services and improving the quality of healthcare. Bangladesh Medical University is the main institution in the country for providing higher medical services and providing high-quality medical services,’ he said while distributing certificates among the participants of the training workshop on evidence based medicine at the BMU on Thursday.


The BMU, therefore, should lead in providing international-standard medical education and research, and providing high-quality medical services, he said.

The three-day training workshop on EBM concluded at the conference room of the BMU Super Specialised Hospital on Thursday, said a press release on Friday.

Professor Rumi Ahmed Khan from Dell Medical School at the University of Texas in the United States delivered the keynote titled An Interactive Discussion of Clinical Audit.

Organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of the BMU, 20 teachers and doctors from the department of obstetrics and Gynaecology, department of general surgery, department of paediatrics and department of internal medicine of the BMU participated in this workshop.

Chaired by director of IQAC, Professor Nurun Nahar Khanam, the workshop was moderated by IQAC additional director associate professor Dr Tarek Reza Ali.

It is worth noting that on the first day of the workshop, the keynote paper was presented as the resource person by Professor Dr Md Abdus Shakur, chairman of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation, and on the second day, the keynote paper was presented as the resource person by Professor Dr M Mostafa Zaman, executive editor of BMU Journal.
