A last-minute goal by Fazla Rabby helped holders Bangladesh manage a narrow 3-2 win over hosts Indonesia in their Pool B match of the Men鈥檚 AHF Cup 2025 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday.

With the win, four-time back-to-back winners Bangladesh were on top of the five-team pool with six points from two outings.


Bangladesh started their pool campaign, which is also the qualifier for the next edition of the Asia Cup, with a 5-1 win over Kazakhstan in their first match on Friday.

In the day鈥檚 play, Obidul Hasan Joy gave Bangladesh the lead by scoring a field goal in the 25th minute before Shohanur Rahman Aabuj doubled the margin by scoring from the penalty corner in the 28th minute.

The hosts made it square in the third quarter with two field goals from Alfandy Prastyo and Khaerulloh Akmal in the 30th and 34th minutes, respectively.

With the score tied at 2-2, Rabby hit the winner by scoring a field goal in the 60th minute for Bangladesh.

聽Bangladesh, winners of the 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2022 editions, will play their next pool games against Thailand and Sri Lanka on April 22 and 23, respectively.

A total of 10-team participating in the tournament split into two equal pools, with Chinese Taipei, Oman, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan and Singapore placed in Pool A.聽

The top two teams from each pool will advance into the semi-finals.
