
A four-day art workshop titled Ronger Gaari Watercolour Workshop 2025 began on Sunday at 3DArt Gallery of Military Museum in the capital Dhaka.
The event was organised by Ronger Gaari, an organisation promoting young artists.
Twenty seven young artists from across the country are participating in the workshop which will portray the scenic beauty of different places in Dhaka.
Ronger Gaari director artist Mintu Dey is conducting the workshop while artists Sabid Osman, Arifur Rahaman Topu, Kamrun Nahar Moyna and Dipto Modak are working as trainers at the workshop.
The participants in the workshop will visit Old Dhaka, the Jahangirnagar University campus and other iconic places in the capital.
The workshop was inaugurated by Ekushey Padak-winning renowned sculptor-painter Hamiduzzaman Khan while renowned artist Biren Shome, Abdul Mannan, Ivy Zaman and Rashid Amin spoke at the event as special guests.
‘The art workshop aims at promoting young artists who are interested in using watercolour,’ Mintu Dey said, adding that artists of the best three paintings will be able to participate in an international art camp scheduled to be held in Nepal this year.
Abdul Mannan said that the watercolour practice was reborn due to various initiatives taken by various artists and art organisations.
Biren Shome said that the watercolour materials enabled young artists to pursue their artistic pursuits at a little cost.
Biren Shome said that most of the renowned artists of the country excelled in watercolour.
Hamiduzzaman Khan said that art patrons should collaborate with art organisers to expand the art practice.
Various artists and art organisations are working to develop watercolour based art practice, Hamiduzzaman said, adding that artists need to work every day for perfection.
The workshop will end at Asiatic Society Bangladesh at Nimtali on April 23.
