The University Grants Commission will hold a three-day regional higher education conference, involving the representatives of the UGC in the SAARC member countries, in Dhaka in December.聽
The UGC authority took the decision at a meeting held in Dhaka on Monday with UGC Chairman Professor SMA Faiz in the chair, said a press release.
UGC members Professor Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Professor Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Professor Md Saidur Rahman, senior education specialist of the World Bank TM Asaduzzaman, lead economist of the World Bank in South Asia Harsha Aturupane, director of higher education acceleration and transformation project Professor Asaduzzaman attended the meeting, among others.
The meeting decided to invite chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to attend the conference as chief guest. A steering committee has been formed to make the conference a success.
Besides, representatives from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation member states, vice-chancellors, scholars and educationalists from SAARC countries will take part in the conference.
