
A small trader was stabbed to death at Bishwanath in Sylhet Sunday evening.
Bishwanath police station officer-in-charge Enamul Haque Chowdhury said that the deceased, Nipesh Talukder, 42, of Derai in Sunamganj along with his family lived at a building of one Khaled Miah at Temukhi under Jalalabad police station in Sylhet city.
Local residents said that Nipesh was attacked at about 9:00pm on Sunday at Pirerbazar of Bishwanath.
Local union parishad member Fazlul Haque told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Nipesh used to sell betel leaf, betel nut and cigarette ferrying by a bicycle at different markets at Bishwanath.Â
‘An unidentified man stabbed in Nipesh’s chest immediately after he reached at the west end of Pirerbazar, leaving him critically injured,’ Fazlu said, adding that local people tried to take the victim to a doctor but he died on the spot.Â
Enamul said that the body was handed over to the relatives of the victim on Monday after a post mortem examination.
‘A suspected man was also arrested to interrogate him into the killing incident,’ he said.
