National Citizen Party on Monday suspended its joint member secretary Gazi Sahlahuddin Tanvir over corruption allegations.
Tanvir is accused of unlawfully interfering in district commissioner appointments and being involved in corruption in textbook printing paper of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board, said a show-cause notice, signed by NCP joint member secretary (office) Salah Uddin Sifat.
The show-cause notice asked Tanvir to provide a proper explanation to the head of the party’s central disciplinary committee in writing within seven days as to why he would not be expelled.
NCP convener Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossian jointly directed the suspension and the show-cause notice.
‘Due to your disobedience to the previous verbal warning issued to maintain organisational discipline, you have been relieved from all responsibilities and activities of the party until the publication of the final report of the disciplinary committee,’ read the notice.
