
A group of four masked youths allegedly hacked and shot an activist of Juba League, youth wing of the ousted Awami League, in the Kharbona Garoanpara area in Rajshahi city on Wednesday night.
The victim, Rabiul Islam Robi, 40, is the younger brother of Rajshahi City AL鈥檚 Ward 30 (south) unit president Shahidul Islam.
A video clip recorded on a CCTV camera installed close to the scene showed that wearing handkerchiefs and equipped with sharp weapons and firearms, a group of four youths on two motorbikes surrounded Robi, also an employee of Rajshahi University, near his rented residence in the Kharbona Garoanpara area at about 9:00pm on Wednesday.
The clip also showed that the youths started hacking Robi all over the body and shot him thrice before leaving the scene.
Sankar K Biswas, the spokesperson and in-charge of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital emergency department, told 抖阴精品 that Robi was shot in one leg while he sustained wounds to his hands and legs by sharp weapons.
He said that following a surgery, Robi was later transferred to Dhaka at the request of his family.
Sabina Yeasmin, additional deputy police commissioner of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, said that Robi had five cases filed against him including the murder case of RU Shibir leader Sharifuzzaman Nomani.
Sharifuzzaman Nomani, general secretary of Shibir RU unit, was killed during a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League and Shibir activists on the campus on March 13 in 2009.
No case has been filed with any police station till Thursday evening over the attack on Robi, Sabina Yeasmin said, adding that they have collected the CCTV footage and are trying to identify and arrest the attackers.
