Film actor and Nirapad Sarak Andolon chief Ilias Kanchan announced of forming a political party named Janata Party Bangladesh as its chairman on Friday.
Senior journalist Shaukat Mahmood was named as the party secretary general.
The party manifesto and the names of other office bearers were also unveiled in a party launching programme held at a Dhaka hotel.
Reading out the party manifesto, Shaukat said the party policy will be absolute faith in Allah, Bangladeshi nationalism, liberty to practice religion, equality, social justice and human dignity.
He said the party will apply for registration at the Election Commission soon.
