A worker was killed on Saturday after sustaining a fatal head injury while on duty at Akij Steel Mill at Gazaria in Munshiganj.
The deceased, Mohammad Ali, 45, was a resident of Hatiya in Noakhali.
Gazaria police station officer in-charge Shahidul Islam said that Mohammad Ali, a foreman in the production department, was struck in the head by a broken belt after being hit by a hot rod, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
The police recovered the body and sent it to Munshiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
