The education ministry on Sunday suspended formation of the governing bodies and managing committees of all non-government educational institutions under the ministry across the country.
A directive, issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the ministry on the day, also said that the directive would be effective until further notice.
Earlier, after Sheikh Hasina resigned as the prime minister fled to India on August 5 following a mass uprising led by students, on August 20 the education ministry gave the divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers the responsibility for the chairman post of governing bodies in all non-government educational institutions under the ministry.
Later on November 21, all of these educational institutions were asked to form ad-hoc committees following the Non-Government Educational Institutions’ Governing Body and Managing Committee Rules 2024.
The Sunday directive read that as per the November 21 order of the ministry already the educational institutions formed ad-hoc committees and until further notice these ad-hoc committees were asked to stop activities to form the governing bodies and managing committees.
All education boards were asked to take action in this regard, the directive added. Ìý
